These are pattens from
the "Whittlin' Jim" column that ran for many years in Boys Life. Sadly, they discontinued it,
probably because so few people were whittling anymore.
There's a lot of good stuff in here, for beginners and advanced
carvers. There are several other collections of these, even here on this
site, but I think you will find that these have been scanned at a higher
resoluvtion and thus will print out more clearly. NOTE: Many of the
"Whittlin' Jim" slides come from the era before "political correctness", when
caricatures of people, including native peoples, were considered amusing and
acceptable. If any of these images disturb you, that's too
bad.
